Details Updated on Jan, 2021 Detroit Parish A community was formed in Detroit on September 1980 under the leadership of Dr. Joseph Pullukattu. It was recognized as Indian Catholic Mission (ICM) by Cardinal Edward Szoka, the then Archbishop of Detroit.
With the inception of St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago this community became under the jurisdiction of the syro-malabar diocese. Beatrice Parish site in Southfield which was purchased for this community, was inaugurated together with the silver Jubilee of this community by His Beatitude Varkey Cardinal Vithayathil, the Major Archbishop of Syro-Malabar Church at the presence of His Excellency Mar Jacob Angadiath, the Bishop of St.Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago.
